More than 25 years of professional experience

About Kjaer Consult

I established Kjaer Consult ApS in autumn 2023 to pursue my work in the consultancy industry independently. After 25 years with leading consultancy firms such as COWI and FORCE Technology – where I held positions as project manager, department head, and project director – I chose to resign and establish my own company to continue providing expert advice to the industry, construction, and maritime sectors. My services include, among others, expert assessments, investigations, and clarifications.

Experience and Expertise in Construction, Industry, and Maritime Sectors

As a consultant, I have worked broadly within construction and industry, handling preliminary analyses, tendering, contracting, project management, as well as handover and one-year reviews in accordance with the construction contract frameworks ABR, AB, and ABT.
My projects have primarily been within energy production and distribution, including district heating installation, as well as technical building installations.

My background as a marine engineer has taken me around the world, where I have participated in technical and organisational projects for organisations including Danida, the EU, the World Bank, and various private clients. I have extensive experience in optimisation and risk analysis within industry and maritime sectors, as well as technical due diligence assignments for foreign investors in Northern Europe – including assessments of port facilities, shipping companies, and industrial properties. In addition, I have carried out numerous expert assessments, party statements, and provided support in the preparation of technical appraisal reports.

Since 2022, I have also served as a technical arbitrator in the Arbitration Board.

Incident Analysis and Human Behaviour Insights

My original background as a skilled worker in the iron and metal industry, combined with my service in the Navy and experience as a ship officer in the Merchant Navy has provided me with a solid, practical understanding of the industry. Additionally, I have worked part-time for approximately seven years on fire and rescue duties at Falck A/S.

Over the years, I have also been involved in investigation and analysis of workplace accidents in industry and maritime sectors, including expert assessments in fire and explosion cases as well as technical examinations for the police.

In 2008, I completed a Master’s degree in Organisational Psychology (MPO) at Roskilde University, focusing on human behaviour in high-pressure and emergency situations. This knowledge is particularly relevant in relation to accidents or unintended incidents, where the human factor often plays a crucial role.
